So... I thought I'd 'pose' with my broadsword (show off) for some pics...
and while moving from Ochs to Vom Dach positions (you fighters types know what I'm talking about), I clipped the tree limb above and behind me and snapped the sword at a point about an 1/2 inch above where the tang starts on the blade...
The result was me standing there with nothing but the handle in my hands as the blade and pommel clanged to the ground... talk about feeling (not to mention LOOKING) STUPID!
Except for my pride and the sword, nothing else was harmed...
thus the reason for TWO very important safety rules :
1) always be aware of your surroundings before 'slinging' swords around...
and
2) don't buy cheap $#^T from India/Pakistan... even if it is just for looks.. ;) LOL

Milord Freitag,
Sir BlackwolfI see before me another wiser man.... yes, been there done that. I suppose that is why I am now rather particular about me blades.
I see you are a member of the Adrian Empire. I am Honoured to call several people of that Fyne Order good friends of mine, to include Sir Karl and his Ladywife Dame Patrica of the Duchy of Cashel (VA) amoungst them.
Be well Sir and better luck when next you take up the sword.
I am at your service,
